Founded in 1976/77 (some even say 1975) in Sarcelles by Jean Briand (guitar) and Jean-Pierre Olivier (vocals, guitar), Les Bouchers de Verdun start writing material during the very first gen punk explosion. With Philippe Rodriguez (drums) and Stéphane Fenestre (bass) joining in 1979, the band immediately goes to Enghien to record their first demo session in one shot live in the studio (with a friend of them "Vanzo" as lead singer on two tracks). In an attempt to get away from a too radical or political image due to a violent band name, Les Bouchers de Verdun turns to Politburo, then to International Bondage, and eventually to Bondage-T (an abbreviation of the « Bondage T-shirts » sold in the Punk Gear pages of the famous British magazine NME). Deeply rooted in the DIY ethic, the band members draw their own artworks on blank T-Shirts, leather jackets and for gig flyers. They rehearse in Bouffémont and play mainly in the suburbs of Paris (forum des Cholettes, Bouffémont, Meudon, Saint-Gratien). Jean leaves the band and the band becomes a trio. With a solid material of a dozen tracks, the band records a second demo session in a home studio of Ezanville, and plays the famous Golf Drouot in june 1981 where they are declared best band of the month. In spite of a devoted fanbase of local punks and of nice press clips in underground magazines, the band splits in mid 82, tired of the lack of structures for concerts.
